The picturesque hamlet of Jarvie is located 35 km north of Westlock off Highway 44 and is nestled on the banks of the Pembina River. In the surrounding area you will find many lakes for camping, fishing and water sports. During the fall and winter enjoy the numerous skidoo trails, hunting and ice fishing. There are a number of services available in the town including a community center that accomodates the senior drop-in group, Fire Hall, Cache Park with the Bat and Bird Conservancy, Jarvie Legion Play Park and skating rink. Jarvie residents take pride in their homes and you will enjoy the beautiful gardens and well kept yards Jarvie looks forward to your visit and seeing all the town and area has to offer.
The greatest asset that Jarvie has is the superb volunteer base of community residents who come forth to provide assistance and run events whenever needed. Jarvie puts on an annual Jarvie Family Days, a one day summer celebration on the last Saturday before the August long weekend. An october Harvest Supper is held annually to bring together the community in a celebration of the harvest from gardens and the surrounding lands.
The Jarvie Community council is the mobilizing body for initiating recreationl activities, special events, and promotion of the community. Along with an elected Executive, the Council is composed of representatives from the community groups, thus providing input into decisions made by council.
