Animal Control Bylaw

Owning a domestic animal such as a dog or cat can be a very satisfying experience, however it is the owner’s responsibility to know and understand the rules and regulations pertaining to ownership. Community Peace Officers

Westlock County's Peace Officers are appointed by Alberta Justice under the provisions of the Police Act to enforce certain Provincial statutes. To enhance this service, Westlock County has established partnerships with other agencies including the RCMP and Alberta Transportation.

Our Peace Officers are also responsible for the enforcement of County Bylaws, the most common of which are the Animal Control Bylaw and the Unsightly Premises Bylaw.
